New York Mets 3B Brett Baty was placed on the injured list prior to tonight's against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a torn UCL in his thumb.

Baty will undergo surgery on Thursday and the Mets said the typical return-to play time for this injury is five weeks.

This will most likely  end his regular season, but there is a possibility Baty could return for the playoffs.

He got off to a fast start in the majors with a homer in his first at-bat, but has struggled since with 6 hits in his last 37 at-bats after that.

Outfielder Terrence Gore was called up to replace Baty.
