The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 5-0 tonight at Truist Park for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 75-42.

RHP Taijaun Walker started out well with two scoreless innings, but had to come out after the bottom of the second with back spasms.

RHP R.J. Alvarez had to come in next in the bottom of the third and gave up a solo homer to LF Robbie Grossman.

Alvarez stayed in for the bottom of the fourth and got into more trouble after he gave a lead-off walk to 3B Austin Riley and then a two-run homer to the following hitter 1B Matt Olson.

Alvarez's struggles in the inning continued after he gave up back-to-back singles to catcher Travis d'Arnaud and DH Wilson Contreras, but then came back to retire the next three hitters he faced.

Alvarez came back out for the bottom of the fifth and threw a scoreless inning.

RHP Stephen Nogosek followed and threw a scoreless bottom of the sixth, but in the bottom of the seventh, he gave up two runs on a RBI single by SS Dansby Swanson and two batters later a RBI single for Olson.

RHP Seth Lugo had to come in to get the last two outs in the seventh and then stayed in for the bottom of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

The offense struggled all night against RHP Charlie Morton and managed only three hits, two of which came from SS Francisco Lindor.

They went 0-1 with RISP and left three men on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday August 17th at the Braves at 7:20 p.m.
