The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 6-4 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 67-38.

In the bottom of the first, RF Starling Marte reached on an infield hit with one out and then SS Francisco Lindor followed with a walk.

1B Pete Alonso then drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single.

In the following inning, LF Tyler Naquin hit a solo homer for his first homer as a Met.

In the bottom of the third, Lindor walked with two walks and then 1B Pete Alonso followed with a two-run homer.

DH Daniel Vogelbach followed and continued his torrid start as a Met with a solo homer after hitting a grand slam yesterday against the Washington Nationals.

After scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth, Naquin capped off his stellar night with another solo homer. He is the first ever Met to ever hit two homers in his first game at Citi Field.

RHP Carlos Carrasco started out well with four scoreless innings extending his scoreless inning streak to 22/3 innings, the longest of his career but than ran into trouble in the top of the fifth.

Carrasco gave up a lead-off single to former Met catcher Travis d'Arnaud who then advanced to second on a wild pitch.

Carrasco retired the next two hitters he faced and then gave up a RBI single to Michael Harris II and a two-run homer to RF Ronald Acuna Jr.

Carrasco had a scoreless top of the sixth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was six innings, four hits, three runs, one walk and six strikeouts.

Carrasco battled through a difficult lineup and threw six terrific innings using his fastball, change-up and slider.

He picked up his 12th win.

RHP Adam Ottavino gave up a RBI single to Harris in the top of the seventh, but came back to strike out Acuna Jr to end the inning.

RHP Edwin Diaz followed and closed it out with two dominating innings in the top of the eighth and ninth striking out three with his blazing fastball and wicked slider to pick up his 24th save as well as his first career six-out save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday August 5th at home against the Braves at 7:10 p.m.
