The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 3-2 tonight at Truist Park to lose three out of four games in the series and dropped their record to 76-43.

RHP Jacob deGrom started out well with two scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the seventh after he gave up a one-out single to LF Robbie Grossman and then two batters later a RBI double to SS Dansby Swanson and a RBI single to the following hitter 3B Austin Riley.

DeGrom settled down nicely after that and retired the last 12 hitters he faced before allowing an infield hit to 2B Vaughn Grissom and was then taken out.

RHP Seth Lugo came in next and gave up the game-winning RBI double to CF Michael Harris II.

RHP Mychel Givens threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The bats did not much in the first couple of the innings and wasted a golden scoring opportunity in the top of the second after LF Mark Canha led off with a double and 3B Brett Baty followed with a single with no outs.

Catcher James McCann and CF Brandon Nimmo then struck out and RF Starling Marte grounded out back to LHP Max Fried to end the threat.

In the top of the fifth, 2B Jeff McNeil off with a single and LF Mark Canha followed with a two-run home to tie the game.

In the top of the eighth, McCann doubled with one out, but then Nimmo struck out and Marte grounded out to end the inning.

In the top of the ninth, SS Francisco Lindor led off with a single, but was then called out at second after 1B Pete Alonso flew out and Lindor could not find where the ball was when he was running back to first base.

McNeil grounded out to end the game,

The offense struggled all night with men on base and went 1-7 with RISP leaving four runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday August 19th at the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:05 p.m.
