The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves 13-1 tonight at Truist Park to snap their two-game winning streak and dropped their record to 75-41.
RHP Carlos Carrasco got off to a tough start after he gave up three runs in the bottom of the second on back-to-back homers by catcher William Contreras and LF Eddie Rosario and then allowed a run later in the inning after LF Mark Canha lost a pop-up in the lights to allow a third run to score in the inning.
Carrasco came back out to the mound for the bottom of the third following a 55-minute rain delay and then had to come out of the game after he felt his left side tighten up.
His final line was 2.0 innings, four hits, three runs, one walk and one strikeout.
LHP Joely Rodriguez came in next and had a scoreless bottom of the third.
Rodriguez stayed for the bottom of the fourth and retired two out of the three hitters he faced and was then taken out.
RHP Adonis Medina followed and gave up two runs in the inning on a RBI double by RF Ronald Acuna Jr and a RBI single to SS Danbsy Swanson.
Medina stayed in and had a scoreless bottom of the fifth, but it all unraveled for him in the bottom of the sixth after he gave up a RBI single to Michael Harris II, a RBI double to Acuna Jr and then a two-run single to Swanson and was then taken out.
RHP Mychal Givens had to come in and struggled allowing a single to 3B Austin Riley and a RBI single to the following hitter 1B Matt Olson.
Givens struck out the next two hitters, but then gave up a three-run homer to former Met catcher Travis d'Arnaud.
DH Darin Ruf had to come in the bottom of the seventh and threw two scoreless innings in seventh and eighth.
The offense did not do much outside of the top of the fifth inning when 2B Jeff McNeil led off with a double and advanced to third on an error by Acuna.
3B Eduardo Escobar followed with a RBI ground-out.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Tuesday August 16th at the Braves at 7:20 p.m.
