After scoreless innings in the bottom of the first and second, CF Mark Canha walked to lead off the bottom of the third and two batters later, SS Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer for his 20th homer of the season
This broke Jose Reyes's previous record of 19 homers in 2006 for the most homers by a Met SS in a single year.
In the bottom of the fourth, LF Jeff McNeil hit a solo homer.
In the bottom of the sixth, DH Darin Ruf doubled with one out and then McNeil followed with a RBI single for his second RBI of the game.
In the bottom of the seventh, catcher Tomas Nido led off with a single and then Canha followed with a hit-by-pitch.
Three batters later, 1B Pete Alonso was intentionally walked to load the bases and then Ruf came up and broke the game open with a two-run single.
RHP Carlos Carrasco cruised through the first six innings, but ran into trouble in the top of the seventh after he gave up a lead-off single to DH Donovan Solano and then two batters later a two-run homer to RF Jake Fraley.
Carrasco tired out in the seventh and was taken out with two outs in the inning.
His final line was 6.2 innings, seven hits, two runs, one walk and nine strikeouts.
He had excellent command once again and mixed in his fastball, curveball and change-up well.
Carrasco picked up his 13th win.
RHP Mychel Givens followed and got a huge out striking out CF Nick Senzel to end the inning.
RHP Trevor May came in next and threw a scoreless top of the eighth.
RHP Seth Lugo closed it out with a scoreless top of the ninth.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday August 10th at home against the Reds in the final game of the series at 1:10 p.m.
