Mets Trade J.D. Davis To Giants For Darin Ruf

 The New York Mets acquired outfielder and first basemen Darin Ruf today from the San Francisco Giants for infielder J.D. Davis, and pitching prospect Thomas Szapucki, Nick Zwack and Carson Seymour.

Ruf is hitting .216 with 11 homers in 90 games and is a right-handed power bat who can provide versatility as well play left field and first base in addition to DH.

He has well against left-handed pitching throughout his career with an OPS of .929 and a OPS+113 for his career.

Ruf will most likely serve as the right-handed half of a DH platoon with Daniel Vogelbach. He is under contract for next year making $3 million and his contract includes a $3.5 million team option for 2024.
