The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-0 tonight at Citi Field and improved their record to 15-6.

Five Met pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter for the second time in team history.

RHP Tylor Megill threw five scoreless innings with five strikeouts and three walks. Megill had a lot of life of his fastball and battled through five innings, even though he did not have his best command and got into a lot of deep counts.

He showed that he can still be effective without his best stuff and find a way to get hitters out. Megill picked up his fourth win and lowered his ERA to 1.93.

RHP Drew Smith came in next and had four strikeouts in 1.1 innings.

LHP Joely Rodriguez followed and gave up a lead-off walk, but was able to get out of the inning after he got 3B Alec Bohm to hit into a double play.

Rodriguez stayed for the top of the eighth and retired the first hitter he faced, but then walked pinch-hitter Jorge Carmago and was then taken out.

RHP Seth Lugo appeared next and retired 2B Jean Segura and 1B Rhys Hoskins to end the inning.

RHP Edwin Diaz came in the top of the ninth and had a dominating performance striking out DH Bryce Harper, RF Nick Castellanos and catcher J.T. Realmuto on 11 pitches and picked up his fourth save.

The offense was held scoreless against RHP Aaron Nola for the first four innings, but in the bottom of the fifth, 3B Eduardo Escobar led off with a single and two batters later LF Mark Canha hit a double which moved Escobar to third.

2B Jeff McNeil followed and continued his torrid start with a two-run single.

1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer in the following inning for his fourth homer of the year and first in his last 40 at-bats.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Saturday April 30th against the Phillies at 7:10 p.m.
