The New York Mets beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-2 this afternoon at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 12-5.

The offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after LF Mark Canha led off with an infield single and then advanced to second on an error by 3B Sergio Alcantara.

Two batters later, SS Francisco Lindor hit a RBI single.

The bats did not do much for the next few innings until the top of the sixth after RF Starling Marte doubled with one out and then stole third and came around to score on a throwing error by catcher Jose Herrera.

In the following inning, DH J.D. Davis walked, 2B Luis Guillorme singled and catcher James McCann was hit by a pitch which loaded the bases.

CF Travis Jankowski then came up and was hit by a pitch which brought in a run,

Two batters later, Marte was also hit by a pitch with the bases which brought in another run.

In the top of the eighth, Davis hit a solo homer and then Guillorme followed with a double and then came around to score on another error by Alcantara on a grounder by catcher James McCann.

RHP Tylor Megill cruised through the first three innings with five strikeouts, but in the bottom of the fourth he gave up a solo homer to 1B Christian Walker.

Megill settled down after that and retired the next two hitters.

He worked around a one-out double in the bottom of the fifth and had a 1-2-3 bottom of the sixth.

Megill retired the first two hitters he faced in the bottom of the seventh, but then gave up a double to 2B Geraldo Perdomo and a RBI single to SS Nick Ahmed and was taken out.

His final line was 6.2 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk and 7 strikeouts.

Megill had a lot of life of his fastball and also featured a change-up, curveball and slider.

He's come a long way this year with his new delivery and helped him gain more velocity on his fastball as well as more movement and location on his off-speed pitches including his slider and change-up.

Megill picked up his third win on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.35.

RHP Seth Lugo came in and retired pinch-hitter Pavin Smith on a line-out to end the inning.

Lugo stayed in for the bottom of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

LHP Joely Rodriguez closed it out with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth inning where had two strikeouts.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, April 25th at the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:45 p.m.
