Mets Lose To Phillies 5-3 After Carlos Carrasco Gives Up Two Homers

The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-3 tonight at Citi Field for their fith consecutive loss and dropped their record to 72-77.
RHP Carlos Carrasco got off to a tough start in the top of the first after he gave up a solo homer to 2B Jean Segura.
After a scoreless top of of the second, Carrasco gave up another solo homer to Segura in the top of the third.
Carrasco settled down after that with scoreless innings in the top of the fourth, fifth and sixth and was taken out after the inning.
His final line was 6 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and 5 strikeouts.
LHP Brad Hand followed in the top of the seventh and got into immediate trouble after he gave up a lead-off double to 1B Brad Miller and then a double to the following hitter 3B Freddy Galvis.
Hand was able to get only one out and was then taken out for RHP Trevor May.
May got Segura to fly out, but then gave up a two-run double to RF Bryce Harper and then finally got out of the inning.
RHP Migeul Castro then threw a scoreless top of the eighth.
RHP Jeurys Familia threw a scoreless top of the ninth.
The offense was held scoreless for the first five innings against RHP Aaron Nola, but in the bottom of the sixth CF Brandon Nimmo tripled with one out and then SS Francisco Lindor followed with a RBI ground-out.
In the following inning, 2B Javy Baez led off with a single and after LF Jeff McNeil lined out and catcher James McCann grounded out to move Baez to second, pinch-hitter Dom Smith reached on an infield hit which brought home a run.
Nimmo added a solo homer leading off the bottom of the eighth.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night Sunday September 19 at 7:00 p.m. against the Phillies on Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN.
