RHP Marcus Stroman cruised through the first five innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the sixth after he gave up a lead-off hit-by pitch to pinch-hitter Eddy Alvarez and then a single to the following hitter SS Miguel Rojas. Stroman then got 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr to ground into a fielder's choice which brought in a run. Stroman was able to get out of the inning without allowing any more runs and came back out for the bottom of the seventh. He struck out 1B Lewin Diaz for the first out and then walked and then allowed catcher Sandy Leon to reach on an infield hit and was then taken out. His final line was 6.1 innings, 4 hits, 1 run, 0 walks and 7 strikeouts. LHP Brad Hand came on and gave up a base hit to 3B Isan Diaz and two batters later gave up a slow dribbler to pinch-hitter Lewis Brinson that went back to the mound. Hand threw the ball wildly to first place which allowed the tying run to score, but then Brinson was tagged off second base after he came off the bag for the last out of the inning. RHP Jeurys Familia followd gave up a solo homer to 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr in the bottom of the eighth. In the top of the first, 2B Javier Baez doubled with two outs and then 3B J.D. Davis followed with a walk. Baez advanced to third on a passed ball and later scord on a wild pitch by LHP Jesus Luzardo. Baez came through again in the top of the third with a solo homer. Outside of Baez the rest of the offense did not do much and went 0-7 with runners in scoring postion and left seven runners on base. The Mets next game is tomorrow night September 10th back home at Citi Field against the New York Yankees at 7:10 p.m.
