Mets vs. White Sox Game 107 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Chicago White Sox 4-2 tonight for their sixth consecutive win and improved their record to 52-55. The offense was held scoreless for the first five innings until the top of the sixth inning after catcher Wilson Ramos hit a RBI ground-out. In the top of the ninth inning, Ramos reached on an error by White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson and pinch-hitter J.D Davis followed with a single. 3B Todd Frazier came through with an RBI single. Four batters later, CF Michael Conforto broke the game open with a two-run single.

RHP Jacob deGrom had an outstanding start allowing one run on five hits in seven innings. He gave up two walks and had 11 strikeouts. deGrom worked out of a difficult bottom of the third inning, but settled in after that and dominated the rest of the way. LHP Justin Wilson followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning and escaped from a based loaded jam. Wilson picked up his second win. RHP Edwin Diaz gave up a solo homer to CF Leury Garcia in the bottom of the ninth, but didn't give up any more runs and was able to pick up his 24th save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon against the White Sox at 2:10 p.m.
