Mets vs. Padres Game 102 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres 4-0 this afternoon to take two out of three games in the series and improved their record to 47-55. The offense got the board early in the bottom of the first inning after LF J.D. Davis walked, 1B Pete Alonso singled and catcher Wilson Ramos hit a sacrifice fly. 2B Robinson Cano followed with a single and 3B Todd Frazier hit a two-run double. RF Michael Conforto followed with a RBI single.

RHP Jacob deGrom had another outstanding start with seven scoreless innings. deGrom's final line was 7 innings,  four hits, one walk and nine strikeouts. He lowered his ERA to 2.86, which is fifth in the National League and his lowest ERA since April 3. RHP Seth Lugo followed with a scoreless top of the eighth with three strikeouts. Lugo has had a  terrific month with 9.2 scoreless innings and 13 strikeouts and 3 walks. RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth, but was taken out after getting hit on his left food on a line drive by 3B Manny Machado. LHP Luis Avilan had to come in and got the last three outs with two strikeouts.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Pirates at 7:10 p.m.
