Mets vs. Marlins Game 92 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins 4-2 this afternoon for their first win after the All-Star break and improved their record to 41-51. The offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until the top of the third inning after CF Michael Conforto hit a two-run homer. The bats went quiet until the top of the eighth inning after 2B Robinson Cano came through with a two-run homer. This was Cano's 5th homer of the year and first with men on base.

RHP Noah Syndergarrd had a strong outing allowing two runs on five hits with no walks and nine strikeouts in seven innings. Syndergarrd lowered his ERA to 4.55 and continued his dominance against the Marlins with a record of 7-1 in ten starts with a 1.75 ERA. He picked up his seventh win. RHP Seth Lugo followed and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning with two strikeouts. RHP Edwin Diaz closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning and picked up his 20th save.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon against the Marlins at 1:10 p.m.
