Mets vs. Pirates Game 103 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-3 tonight for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 48-55. The offense provided plenty of power with four home runs. RF Jeff McNeil hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning. 3B Todd Frazier hit a solo homer in the bottom of the fifth inning. 1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning. Two batters later, catcher Wilson Ramos hit a solo homer.

RHP Zack Wheeler made his return after he was on the injured list (IL) for 19 days due to shoulder fatigue. Wheeler gave up three runs on six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts in 5.1 innings. He picked up his seventh win. LHP Luis Avilan followed and got the last two outs in the top of the sixth inning. RHP Robert Gsellman came in next and threw a scoreless top of the seventh inning. LHP Justin Wilson threw a scoreless top of the eighth inning. RHP Seth Lugo came on in the top of the ninth and threw a 1-2-3 inning and picked up his first save of the year. Lugo has 10.2 scoreless innings over his last 10 appearances.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night at home against the Pirates at 7:10 p.m.
