Mets vs. Giants Game 97 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the San Francisco Giants 1-0 tonight in 10 innings for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 44-53. RHP Jacob deGrom had an outstanding start throwing seven scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts, 3 hits and 3 walks. deGrom lowered his ERA to 3.02 and passed team broadcaster Ron Darling on the team's all-time strikeout list. LHP Luis Avilan came in next and threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Jacob Rhyme came off his suspension and threw a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning, but gave up a unearned run in the bottom of the tenth inning after LF Dominic Smith misplayed a pop-out by 3B Pablo Sandoval.

The offense was shut down by Giants starter RHP Tyler Beede and managed only three hits by RF Jeff McNeil, 2B Robinson Cano and catcher Wilson Ramos. They left five runners on base and were 0-1 with runners in scoring position.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon at the Giants at 4:05 p.m.
