Red Sox Reach Agreement On Stephen Drew

The Red Sox announced today that they have reached an agreement on Stephen Drew. Drew will be getting a pro rated version of the $ 14.1 million he received in a qualifying offer. This means he will be getting about $10 million for the rest of the season. Since Drew wasn't on Boston's roster for the entire roster, he will be ineligible to receive another counter offer next offseason. That should improve his chances of receiving of multi-year deal. I think it's smart that the Mets didn't pay $10 million for Drew. I think it's best for them to wait till the offseason and try to sign other free agent shortstops such as Jed Lowrie.
