Mets Call Up Rafael Montero

The Mets announced today that they are going to call pitching prospect Rafael Montero for Wednesday's start against the Yankees. This means that Jenrry Meija will now be moved to the bullpen. Montero had a record of 4-1 for the Las Vegas 51s this year. He had 41 strikeouts and only 18 walks in 41.2 innings. He had an amazing WHIP of 1.152. Montero possesses a fastball with life that can go from the low 90's to as high as 95 mph. He also has an above average slider and changeup. I think that is a great decision for the Mets to add Montero to the rotation. Montero has always profiled as a starter. Meijja is better suited for the pen. I'm excited to see what Montero can do and when other young pitchers will be called up such as Jacob Degrom.
