Mets take game 1 of subway series

The Mets defeated the Yankees by the score of 9-7 last night at Yankee Stadium. This marks the fifth straight win over the Yankees for the Mets, dating back to last year. The Mets belted four home runs on the night for the first time since 2005.

Bartolo Colon got roughed up, surrendering seven earned runs in 5 plus innings, giving up a grand slam to Brett Gardner in the 2nd.

Travis d'Arnaud his a Yankee Stadium cheap home run over the right field fence to cut the Yankee lead to 4-2.

Curtis Granderson hit his 65th home run in Yankee Stadium, when he tied the game on a  two run homer in the 5th.

Eric Young jr. continued his red hot hitting, clubbing a two run home run to get the Mets within 7-6 when he also clubbed a two run homer.

Lucas Duda was the defensive hero of the game, turning two key double plays in the eighth and ninth innings, and also delivered the game tying RBI in the top of the 8th.

Chris Young capped off the Mets offensive onslaught in the 8th with a two run homer to put the Mets up 9-7.

Jenrry Mejia pitched two solid innings out of the bullpen.

Kyle Farnsworth walked a tight rope and can thank Lucas Duda for his nifty double play to end the game.
