Post Game: Mets 4, Pirates 2.

Tonight, at Citi Field, the Mets (23-28) defeated the Pirates (23-28) by the score of 4-2. Tonight was Lamar Johnson's debut as hitting coach for the Mets, relieving Dave Hudgens of his duties.

Need to know:

Jon Neise pitched 5 and 2/3 innings, surrendering two runs in the 6th inning, allowing a game tying single after issuing a walk to load the bases, before being pulled in favor of Vic Black, who earned his first win in his season debut.

Juan Lagares made a tremendous catch in the top of the first inning on a deep fly ball of the bat of Andrew McCutchen. Offensively, Lagares hit a double off the wall to put the Mets up 2-0, then ripped an RBI single in the 6th to give the Mets a 3-2 lead.

Daniel Murphy followed Lagares' single with a double down the line, scoring Lagares, to add insurance to the Mets lead.

Jenrry Mejia earned his fourth save of the season as he got 6 outs, one coming thanks to a spectacular catch in the 9th by Curtis Granderson.

Next up, the Mets wrap up their three game series, and home stand, on a get-away-game Wednesday at 1:10 PM when Bartolo Colon takes on Charlie Morton.
