Mets Recall Josh Edgin

The Mets announced today that they are going to recall LHP Josh Edgin from Triple A. This season for the Las Vegas 51's, Edgin went 3-0 with a 4.97 ERA. He allowed 16 hits and 11 walks. He had 12 strikeouts in 12.2 innings. Last season for the Mets, Edgin had a record of 1-1 with 1 save and a 3.77 ERA. He appeared in 28.2 innings in 34 games. The Mets hope that Edgin can become a second lefty out of the bullpen in addition to Scott Rice. They can't afford to overwork Rice and need to give him some rest. Having two lefties would give the bullpen more depth and allow Terry Collins to have more options to go to late in games.
