Post Game: Mets 5, Rockies 1

On sunday afternoon in Denver, Colorado, the Mets (16-14) defeated the Rockies (19-14) by the score of 5-1. The Mets salvaged the last game of their four game set. Dillon Gee kept his scoreless inning streak intact at 16. Below are the highlights from today's contest:

Dillon Gee pitched seven brilliant innings. In a series where Mets' starters have failed to pitch past the fifth inning, a start like Gee's was exactly what the doctor ordered. The more you slice it, Gee is pitching like the Mets' ace.

Curtis Granderson continues his hot series with another RBI single in the first inning. Grandy's batting average has risen into .170s, and he's increased his RBI total from 7 to 12 in this series. Lets hope Curtis can keep it up in Miami and beyond.

Juan Lagares wasn't supposed to start today, but an injury to Eric Young forced Juan into action. What did he do? Only went 2-4 and kept his batting average over .300 for the season. On top of that, his defense never misses a beat. Lagares has looked solid since his return from the DL a few days ago.

Lucas Duda also kept up his hot hitting, adding an RBI double in the eight inning.

Jeurys Familia pitched the eight and ninth innings today, allowing one run in the ninth on a solo home run from Justin Morneau

Next up, the Mets travel to south beach to face the Miami Marlins in a three game set starting tomorrow at 7:10 PM
