The New York Mets lost to the Detriot Tigers 4-3 tonight to drop their record to 56-53. They are now 9 games behind the Washington Nationals for first place in the National League East. Mets starter RHP Noah Syndergarrd took the loss after he allowed 4 runs in 6 innings. He gave up 2 walks and had 3 strikeouts. After Syndergarrd was taken out, RHP Erik Goedell came in and threw 2 scoreless innings.
The Mets offense managed to have only two runs against Tigers starter RHP Justin Verlander. 3B Kelly Johnson hit a 2 run homer. 1B James Loney added an RBI groundout in the top of the ninth inning.
