The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins 2-1 tonight in 10 innings to improve their record to 67-64. They remain 2.5 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the second wild card spot in the National League. LF Yoenis Cespedes hit a walk-off homer in the bottom of the eleventh inning. 3B Jose Reyes scored the tying run in the bottom of the eighth inning on a wild pitch.
RHP Rafael Montero pitched five scoreless innings. He gave up six walks and had three strikeouts. He picked up a no-decision. LHP Sean Gilmartin pitched a scoreless top of the sixth inning. LHP Jerry Blevins pitched a scoreless top of the seventh inning. RHP Addison Reed allowed a run in the top of the eighth inning. RHP Jeurys Familia pitched a scoreless ninth inning. LHP Josh Smoker pitched a scoreless top of the tenth inning and picked up his first major league win.
