The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants 9-5 to snap their three game losing streak and improve their record to 61-62. They are now four games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the second spot in the National League wild card race. LF Yoenis Cespedes had a huge game going 3-5 with 2 homers and 3 RBI's. Cespedes now has 24 homers on the season. RF Aledandro De Aza hit a 3 run homer. CF Justin Ruggiano hit an RBI single. 1B Wilmer Flores also hit an RBI single.
RHP Bartolo Colon allowed 2 runs on 9 hits on 6 1/3 innings. He gave up one walk and had five strikeouts. He picked up his 11th win of the season. RHP Josh Smoker came in after Colon was out and got the last two outs in the bottom of the seventh. RHP Hansel Robles came in next and gave up 2 runs, and only recorded one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. RHP Addison Reed followed and finished the game where he gave up 1 run on 2 hits in 1 2/3 innings and also allowed one walk.
