Mets vs. Cardinals Game 126 Recap

The New York Mets lost to the St. Louis Cardinals 8-1 tonight to snap their three game winning steak and drop their record to 63-63. They are now 4.5 games behind the Cardinals for the second wild spot in the National League. RHP Jacob Degrom took the loss after he allowed 5 runs on 12 hits in 4 2/3 innings. He had three strikeouts and two walks. This is the second consecutive rough start for degrom. Hopefully he's not hurt and is going through a bad stretch. After deGrom was taken out, RHP Erik Goedell came in and gave up 2 runs on hits in 1 2/3 innings. He had three strikeouts and one walk. RHP Hansel Robles allowed a run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Mets offense struggled all night against Cardinals starter RHP Carlos Martinez and managed only 4 hits. The only run they were able to score was on an RBI double by SS Asdrubal Cabrera.
