The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins 7-4 tonight to win their second consecutive game and improve their record to 68-64. They remain 2 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the second NL wild spot. RF Curtis Granderson hit 2 pinch-hit homers and had 3 RBI's. SS Asdrubal Cabrera hit a 2 run homer. CF Aledandro De Aza hit an RBI single. 2B Wilmer Flores also hit an RBI single.
RHP Seth Lugo pitched six solid innings and allowed 2 runs. He gave up one walk and had four strikeouts. He picked up his fourth win. RHP Hansel Robles followed with two scoreless innings. RHP Jim Henderson allowed two runs in the top of the ninth and picked up the first two outs. RHP Jeurys Familia came in and got the last out. He recorded his 43th save of the year, which is a franchise record.
