Mets vs. Phillies Game 129 Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 12-1 to win their third consecutive game and improve their record to 66-63. They are now 2.5 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the second wild spot in the National League. The offense exploded tonight for 12 runs on 13 hits. SS Asdrubal Cabrera hit a 2 run homer. LF Yoenis Cespedes hit a 3 run homer. Kelly Johnson hit a pinch hit grand slam. 2B Neil Walker hit a solo homer. CF Aledandro De Aza added an RBI double.

RHP Noah Syndergarrd was outstanding tonight and allowed only run in seven innings on two hits. He gave up two walks. He had seven strikeouts. He picked up his twelfth win. RHP Jim Henderson pitched a scoreless top of the eighth inning. LHP Josh Smoker pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
