The New York Mets lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-6 last night to end their two game losing streak and drop their record to .500 at 59-59. They fell 3 games behind the Miami Marlins for the second National League wild card spot. RHP Bartolo Colon took the loss after he allowed 5 runs, but only 2 earned on 9 hits in 4 innings. He gave up 2 walks. He had one strikeout. The only positive from Colon's start is that he drew his first career walk at age 43. After Colon was taken out, RHP Erik Goedell came in and allowed 2 runs. RHP Seth Lugo came in next and gave up a run. RHP Hansel Robles gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The Mets offense struggled once again with runners in scoring position and wasted several opportunities. However they got some great performances from SS Jose Reyes, catcher Travis d'Arnaud and 2B Neil Walker. Reyes had 2 hits and 2 RBI singles. d'Arnaud had 3 hits. His bat is starting to come around. He is starting to hit like the Mets hoped he would at the start of the season. Neil Walker hit a solo homer. T.J. Rivera and Ty Kelly hit sacrifice flies. 1B Wilmer Flores added a based loaded walk.
