RHP Luis Severino started out well with a scoreless bottom of the first, but gave up three runs in the bottom of the second.
Severino gave up another run in the bottom of the third, but then had scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth and was taken out after the inning.
His final line was 5 innings, four hits, six walks and six strikeouts.
Severino was able to get strikeouts, but also struggled with his control which led to several walks and a shortened outing.
RHP Jorge Lopez followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth.
RHP Reed Garrett threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.
RHP Sean Reid-Foley threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.
RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth and retired the first two hitters he faced, but then gave up a solo homer to LF Randy Arozarena on a hanging slider.
In the bottom of the tenth, LF Jake Diekman gave up a walk-off triple to RF Jonny DeLuca.
The Met offense got off to a fast start in the top of the first after SS Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer.
In the top of the third, DH D.J. Stewart drove in the tying run with a based loaded walk.
In the top of the fourth, catcher Omar Narvaez drove in the tying run with a RBI single and later in the inning, LF Brandon Nimmo drove in a run with a RBI single.
The bats did not do much for the next six innings until the top of the tenth after Nimmo reached on an error which brought home a run.
They struggled with men on base and went 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left 13 runners on base.
The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, May 6 at the St. Louis Cardinals at 7:45 p.m.
