Mets Shutout By Phillies 4-0 After Aaron Nola Dominates

The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 4-0 this afternoon at Citi Field for their third consecutive loss and dropped their record to 19-22.

RHP Jose Butto had a scoreless top of the first,  but ran into trouble in the top of the second.

Butto gave up a lead-off single to CF Johan Rojas and then two walks to load the bases. 

Butto then hit 1B Alex Bohm to bring in a run and walked LF Brandon Walsh to bring in another run.

Butto was able to settle down after that with scoreless innings in the top of the third, fourth and fifth.

His final line was five innings, one hit, two runs, four walks and four strikeouts.

RHP Yohan Ramirez followed with a scoreless top of the sixth.

LHP Jake Diekmann came in next and walked three batters in the top of the seventh and was taken out with two outs in the inning.

RHP Jorge Lopez followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Sean Reid-Foley came on in the top of the ninth and gave up two runs on  a RBI single to SS Bryson Scott and a RBI double to Bohm.

The Met offense was held hitless for the first five innings until CF Tyrone Taylor singled in the bottom of the sixth.

They went 1-3 with runners in scoring position leaving three runners on base,

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, May 15 at the Phillies at 6:40 p.m.

Phillies RHP Aaron Nola was dominant with a complete-game shutout allowing four hits and no walks with eight strikeouts.
