RHP Luis Severino dominated through the first five innings and had a no-hitter, but lost it in the top of the sixth after he gave up a one-out single to SS Brett Wisely and two batters later, a RBI single to DH Patrick Bailey.
Severino had a scoreless top of the seventh and was taken out after the inning.
His final line was seven innings, two hits, one run, three walks and six strikeouts.
RHP Adam Ottavino followed with a scoreless top of the eighth.
RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth and gave up a lead-off single to 1B Wilmer Flores and later in the inning, a game-tying RBI single to pinch-hitter LaMonte Wade Jr to blow his third consecutive save.
RHP Sean Reid-Foley followed in the top of the tenth and had a difficult outing allowing a RBI single to Wisely, a based loaded walk to Bailey and then a bases clearing triple to RF Mike Yastrzemski.
In the bottom of the second, RF Starling Marte drove in the first run of the game with a solo homer.
The offense did not do much until the bottom of the seventh after 3B Brett Baty hit a solo homer.
The Met offense struggled all game with men on base going 0-13 with runners in scoring position leaving 10 runners on base.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, May 26 at home against the Giants at 1:40 p.m.
