Mets Beat Braves 4-3 On Walk-Off Homer from Brandon Nimmo

The New York Mets beat the Atlanta Braves 4-3 tonight at Citi Field to snap their two-game losing streak and improved their record to 19-20.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings, but in the bottom of the third, LF D.J. Stewart singled with one out and two batters later SS Francisco Lindor singled.

1B Pete Alonso followed with a RBI single to bring in the tying run.

In the bottom of the sixth, Lindor led off with a double and then Alonso followed with a RBI double, his second RBI of the game,

The offense did not do much in the next two innings and then came alive in the bottom of the ninth.

2B Jeff McNeil led off with a bunt single and then catcher Tomas Nido followed with a sacrifice bunt.

LF Brandon Nimmo came up next and going in the game late as a defensive replacement and delivered a two-run walk-off homer.

RHP Luis Severino had another solid outing allowing two runs on four hits in five innings.

He gave up three walks with four strikeouts.

RHP Reed Garrett followed with two scoreless innings in the top of the sixth and seventh.

RHP Adam Ottavino came on in the top of the eighth and gave up a RBI single to DH Marcel Ozuna was taken out with one out in the inning.

LHP Jake Diekman had to come in to get the last two outs.

RHP Edwin Diaz threw a scoreless top of the ninth and picked up his first win of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Monday, May 13 at home against the Philadelphia Phillies at 7:10 p.m.
