The New York Mets lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 in 10 innings tonight at Citi Field to drop their record to 19-21.

LHP Sean Manaea had a scoreless top of the first, but then gave up a run in the top of the second on a bunt single by catcher Garrett Stubbs.

Manaea was able to settle down after that and didn't allowing any more runs.

His final line was six innings, four hits, one run, one walk and six strikeouts.

RHP Jorge Lopez came in next in the top of the seventh and got into trouble allowing two hits and then gave up a RBI ground-out on a fielders choice by CH Johan Rojas and was taken out with one out in the inning.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed and was able to get the last two outs to preserve the lead.

Ottavino stayed in for the top of the eighth and threw a scoreless inning.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the top of the ninth for the save, but his early season struggled continued after he gave up a lead-off homer to 2B Bryson Stott and then two more baserunners to load the bases.

Diaz then walked LF Whit Merrfield with two outs to bring in a run.

Diaz then hit the next hitter 3B Alec Bohm which scored the tying run.

RHP Sean-Reid Foley came on in the top of the tenth and gave up the game-winning sacrifice fly to Stott.

In the bottom of the second, 1B Pete Alonso led off with a double and then DH J.D. Martinez followed with a RBI double.

Later in the inning, catcher Tomas Nido drove in Martinez with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the third, Martinez drove in another run with a based loaded walk, but the next three hitters struck out which prevented a much larger scoring outburst in the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Alonso and Martinez got on base and then pinch-hitter Tyrone Taylor grounded into a fielder's choice and Alonso came around to score on an error by 3B Alec Bohm.

The Met offense struggled all night with men going 3-16 with runners in scoring position leaving 11 runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday, May 14 at home against the Phillies at 1:10 p.m.
