Mets Lose to Dodgers 5-2 in 10 Innings With Poor Defense and Bullpen

The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-2 at Citi Field in 10 innings this afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader and dropped their record to 22-31.

RHP Tylor Megill had an outstanding start with seven scoreless innings allowing three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts.

RHP Reed Garrett came on in the top of the eighth and was let down by his defense after SS Francisco Lindor failed out to turn a double play.

Later in the inning, 3B Brett Baty was unable to turn a double play and then Garrett gave up a RBI single to 1B Freddie Freeman.

In the top of the ninth, RHP Adam Ottavino failed to secure a bunt after giving up back-to-back singles which scored the tying run.

In the top of the tenth, RHP Jorge Lopez gave up a RBI single to SS Mookie Betts and a two-run homer to Freeman.

The Met offense did not do much outside of a two-run homer by SS Francisco Lindor in the bottom of the third.

In the bottom of the ninth, they had the bases loaded with one out, but CF Tyrone Taylor popped up with one out and then 2B Jeff McNeil popped out to end the inning.

They went 0-6 with runners in scoring position leaving six runners on base,

The Mets have another game tonight at 7:40 p.m.
