Mets Beat Cubs 7-6 in 11 innings on Walk-Off Double from Francisco Lindor

The New York Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 7-6 this afternoon at Citi Field in 11 innings to improve their record to 16-15.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first four innings, but came alive in the bottom of the fifth.

3B Brett Baty and then CF Harrison Bader singled.

Later in the inning, LF Brandon Nimmo drove in a run with a RBI single and RF Starling Marte followed with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the sixth, pinch-hitter Francisco Lindor came off the bench to deliver a two-run double and later in the inning, Nimmo drove in tying run with a RBI single.

The offense did not do much for the next four innings, but in the bottom of the 11th, Lindor came once through once again with a walk-off two-run double.

RHP Adam Houser had another rough outing allowing four runs on four hits in five innings.

Houser gave up four walks with two strikeouts.

RHP Dedniel Nunez followed in the top of the sixth and gave up a RBI double to former Met CF Pete Crow-Armstrong.

LHP Jake Diekmann came in next and threw a scoreless top of the seventh.

RHP Reed Garrett thew a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz followed and threw two scoreless innings in the top of the ninth and tenth.

LHP Danny Young came on in the top of the 11th and gave up a RBI double to 2B Nick Madrigal but was able to keep the deficit to one run after Marte threw out Madrigal trying to score which ended the inning.

Young picked up his first win of the season.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Friday, May 3 at the Tampa Bay Rays at 6:50 p.m.
