The Met offense was held scoreless for the first four innings, but came alive in the top of the fifth.
2B Jeff McNeil led off with a single and then catcher Tomas Nido followrd with a single.
CF Brandon Nimmo then delivered a game-tying three-run homer and hitting the game-winning homer in last night's game.
RF Starling Marte followed with a single and then SS Francisco Lindor doubled.
1B Pete Alonso came up next and broke out of his 1-for-32 slump with a two-run double.
DH J.D, Martinez followed with a RBI single.
The bats did not do much in the next three innings, but in the top of the ninth, Alonso came through once again with a solo homer, his third RBI of the game.
RHP Jose Butto had a rocky beginning in the bottom of the first allowing a lead-off homer to LF Brendan Donovan and later in the inning, a sacrifice fly by 3B Nolan Arenado and a RBI single by DH Alec Burleson.
Butto was able to settle down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the second, third, fourth and fifth.
His final line was five innings, five hits, three runs, three walks and three strikeouts.
He picked up his first win of the season.
RHP Cole Sulser followed in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a solo homer to Burleson.
RHP Jorge Lopez came on in the bottom of the seventh and worked his way out of a based loaded jam retiring Arenado on a pop out and striking out 1B Paul Goldschmidt to end the inning.
RHP Reed Garrett came in next and continued his dominant season with another scoreeless inning.
RHP Adam Ottavino came in the bottom of the ninth and gave up a solo homer to RF Lars Nootbaar and then gave up a single and walk before settling down.
Ottavino came back to strike out Goldschmidt and Burleson to pick up his first save of the season.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, May 8 at the Cardinals at 1:15 p.m.
