Mets Lose To Marlins 10-9 After Diaz Blows Another Lead

The New York Mets lost to the Miami Marlins 10-9 this afternoon at LoanDepot Park for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 20-25.

RHP Luis Severino had a tough outing with a final line of 6.2 innings, six hits, five runs, three walks and three strikeouts.

RHP Reed Garrett had to come in to get the last out in the bottom of the seventh,.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Edwin Diaz came on in the bottom of the ninth and had another difficult appearance allowing a RBI single to CF Jazz Chisholm J.r. and later in the inning, a game-tying three-run homer to 1B Josh Bell recording only out.

LHP Jake Diekmann had to come in to get the last two outs in the ninth.

RHP Jorge Lopez came on in the bottom of the tenth and gave up a walk-off RBI single to 2B Otto Lopez.

The Met offense got on the board early in the top of the first after D.H. J.D. Martinez hit a RBI single and then 3B Mark Vientos followed with a RBI single.

In the top of the fourth, SS Francisco Lindor drove in a run on a RBI ground-out.

In the top of the fifth, CF Harrison Bader hit a RBI single and then 2B Jeff McNeil followed with a RBI single of his own.

In the top of the ninth, Martinez drove in another run with a RBI double and then RF Starling Marte hit a RBI double.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, May 19 at the Marlins at 1:40 p.m.
