Mets Shut Out by Reds 5-0 and Kodia Senga Struggles

 The New York Mets lost to the Cincinnati Reds 5-0 this afternoon at Great American Ball Park to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to 18-20.

RHP Kodai Senga got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off double to 2b Jonathan India and three batters later a RBI single to LF Jake Fraley.

Senga then gave up a single to the following hitter DH Tyler Stephenson and then a RBI double to 3B Nick Senzel.

Senga's struggles in the inning continued after he gave up a walk to RF Henry Ramos and a two-run single to SS Kevin Newman.

Senga was able to settle down that with three scoreless innings in the bottom of the second, third and fourth.

He gave up a solo homer to 1B Spencer Steer in the bottom of the fifth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was five innings, eight hits, five runs, one walk and seven strikeouts.

RHP Tommy Hunter followed with 2.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Dominic Leone came in and got the last two outs in the bottom of the eighth.

The offense did nothing all game and went 1-6 with runners in scoring position leaving nine runners on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night Friday, May 12 at the Washington Nationals at 7:05 p.m.
