Mets Crushed By Rockies 13-6 After Pitching Struggles Continue

 The New York Mets lost to the Colorado Rockies 13-6 this afternoon at Citi Field to lose two out of three games in the series and dropped their record to under .500 at 17-18.

LHP Joey Lucchesi got off to a tough start in the top of the first after he gave up a solo homer to DH Randall Grichuk.

Lucchesi had a scoreless top of the second, but then gave up two more runs in the top of third on a RBI double by LF Jurickson Profar and a RBI single by RF Kris Bryant.

Lucchesi had a scoreless top of the fourth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was four innings, four hits, three runs, three walks and four strikeouts.

RHP Jimmy Yacabonis came in next in the top of the fifth and it all imploded for him after he gave up five runs in the inning and recorded only one out

RHP Tommy Hunter followed and gave up two runs in 2.2 innings.

RHP Jeff Brigham threw a scoreless top of the eighth.

RHP Dominic Leone gave up two runs in the top of the ninth.

In the bottom of the first, CF Brandon Nimmo and SS Francisco Lindor started off the inning with walks.  RF Jeff McNeil followed with a RBI single to score Nimmo and two batters later, 3B Brett Baty came through with a two-run single.

In the bottom of the fourth, catcher Francisco Alvarez doubled with one out and then Nimmo was hit by a pitch and Lindor walked to load the bases.

McNeil came up next and drove in Alvarez with an infield single, but then 1B Pete Alonso struck out and Baty grounded out to end the inning.

In the following inning, LF Mark Canha doubled and then 2B Luis Guillorme followed with a RBI single.

In the bottom of the seventh, DH Daniel Vogelbach hit a solo homer.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Tuesday, May 9 at the Cincinnati Reds at 6:40 p.m.
