The New York Mets are called up catcher Gary Sanchez from Triple-A Syracuse.
Sanchez was signed by the Mets earlier this month after he played in the San Francisco Giants organization.
He struggled in Triple-A Sacramento with the Giants hitting .164, but did well in Triple-A Syracuse hitting .318 with one homer in 32 at-bats.
Last year with the Minnesota Twins Sanchez hit .205 with 16 homers in 128 games.
The corresponding roster move for Sanchez has not been announced yet.
Hopefully he will be able to hit some homers and provide some power as a back-up catcher and help take pressure off rookie catcher Francisco Alvarez.
