The New York Mets lost to the Colorado Rockies 10-7 tonight at Coors Field and dropped their record to 27-26.
RHP Justin Verlander had a rough outing allowing six runs on nine hits in five innings. He gave up one walk and two strikeouts.
RHP Dominic Leone followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth.
RHP Jeff Brigham gave up two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
RHP Drew Smith gave up two runs in the bottom of the eighth,
The Met offense was held scoreless for the first three innings until 1B Pete Alonso hit a solo homer in the top of the fourth.
In the top of the sixth, 3B Brett Baty hit a RBI double and RF Starling Marte followed with a RBI ground-out.
Three batters later, tookie catcher Francisco Alvarez continued his torrid start with a three-run homer.
In the top of the seventh, Marte hit a RBI single.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, May 28 at the Rockies at 3:10 p.m.
