The New York Mets lost to the Chicago Cubs 4-2 tonight at Wrigley Field for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record back to .500 at 25-25.

RHP Kodai Senga started out well with two scoreless innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom the third after he walked 2B Nico Hoerner to lead off the inning and two batters later, gave up a RBI double to SS Dansby Swanson.

Two batters later, Senga gave up a RBI double to RF Seiya Suzuki and later in the inning a RBI single to CF Mike Tauchman.

Senga had scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth and was taken out after the inning due to a high pitch count because of his poor command.

His final line was five innings, three runs, six hits, six strikeouts and five walks.

RHP Drew Smith came in next in the bottom of the sixth and gave up a solo homer to Hoener.

LHP Brooks Raley and threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

RHP Jeff Brigham threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

The Met offense was held scoreless for the first two innings until LF Mark Canha singled and then catcher Francisco Alvarez followed with a two-run homer for his sixth homer of the season.

The bats did not do much against RHP Met RHP Marcus Stroman and they managed only four hits and had only two at-bats all game with runners in scoring position.

Only Alvarez, Canha and 1B Pete Alonso had hits off Stroman.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Thursday, May 25 at the Cubs at 7:40 p.m.
