Mets Shutout by Nationals 5-0 And Butto Struggles

The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals 5-0 tonight at Citi Field for their second consecutive loss and dropped their record to 14-10.

RHP Jose Butto started out well with a scoreless top of the first, but in the top of the second, he gave up a solo homer to catcher Keibert Ruiz.

Butto's struggles continued in the top of the third after he walked LF Alex Call and 3B Jeimer Candelario. 

Butto then gave up a RBI single to DH Joey Meneses.

Butto had a scoreless top of the fourth and was taken out in the top of the fifth after he walked Ruiz and gave up a single to former met 1B Dom Smith with two outs.

Butto's final line was 4.2 innings, four hits, two runs, six walks and one strikeout.

RHP Jimmy Yacabonis came in next and had a rough top of the sixth after he gave up singles to CF Victor Robles and Cai.

Yacabonis then gave up a two-run double to 2B Luis Garcia.

Later in the inning, Yacabonis gave up a RBI single to Menesis.

RHP Tommy Hunter followed and threw 1.1 scoreless innings.

RHP Adam Ottavino threw a scoreless top of the ninth.

The offense did nothing all night and managed only four hits and left six men on base.

The Mets next game is tomorrow night, Wednesday, April 26 at home against the Nationals at 7:10 p.m.
