The New York Mets lost to the San Francisco Giants 7-4 this afternoon at Oracle Park to snap their three-game winning streak and dropped their record to 14-8.

LHP David Peterson got off to a tough start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a lead-off infield hit to 2B Thairo Estrada and two batters later a single to RF Michael Conforto.

Peterson then walked 1B Wilmer Flores and gave up a sacrifice fly to 3B David Villar.

Peterson's struggles continued when he gave up a three-run homer to the following hitter SS Brandon Crawford.

Peterson had more trouble in the bottom of the second after he gave up a lead-off double to CF Heliot Ramos and two batters a single to Estrada.

Peterson then gave up a RBI single to DH Darin Ruf and a RBI ground-out to Conforto.

Peterson was able to settle down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the third and fourth.

He gave up a solo homer to Flores in the bottom of the fifth and was taken out after the inning.

His final line was five innings, seven hits, seven runs, one walk and eight strikeouts.

RHP Edwin Uceta followed with three scoreless innings in the bottom of the sixth, seventh and eighth.

After a scoreless top of the first, LF Mark Canha walked with one out in the top of the second and then DH Daniel Vogelbach followed with a RBI double.

In the top of the third, CF Brandon Nimmo continued his torrid start to the season with a solo homer.

The bats did not do much for the next four innings until the top of the eighth after 3B Brett Baty led off with a single and then catcher Tomas Nido followed with a bunt single.

Two batter later RF Starling Marte came through with a RBI single, but then SS Francisco Lindor flew out and 1B Pete Alonso grounded out to end the scoring threat.

In the top of the ninth, Canha reached on an infield hit and reached second on defensive indifference.

Baty drove in Canha with a two-out RBI single but 2B Luis Guillorme grounded out to second for the last out.

The Mets next game is on Sunday, April 23 at the Giants at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball.
