The New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 9-4 tonight at Oracle Park for their second consecutive win and improved their record to 13-7.
The offense did not do much for the first three innings, but came alive in the top of the fourth after SS Francisco Lindor led off with a hit by pitch and 1B Pete Alonso followed with a two-run homer.
Two batters later, RF Jeff McNeil was hit by a pitch and 3B Eduardo Escobar followed and broke out of his slump with a two-run homer.
2B Luis Guillorme then walked and later in the inning CF Brandon Nimmo capped off the scoring in the fifth with a RBI double.
In the top of the sixth, McNeil led off with a solo homer.
In the top of the seventh, LF Mark Canha led off with a double and Lindor followed with a double.
Alonso came up next and broke the game with a two-run double for his third and fourth RBI of the game.
DH Daniel Vogelbach then pinch-hitter for Tommy Pham and drew a walk.
McNeil came up next and continued his stellar night at the plate with a RBI single.
RHP Kodai Senga cruised through the first four innings, but had a difficult bottom of the fifth after he gave up solo homers to catcher Blake Sabol and LF Tyler Wade Jr.
Senga's struggles continued in the inning after he gave up a RBI single to RF Mike Yastrzemski and later a wild pitch which caused another run to score.
Senga was able to finish the inning and and was then taken out.
His final line was five innings, four runs, four walks and four strikeouts.
Senga picked up his third win.
LHP Brooks Raley followed with a scoreless bottom of the sixth.
RHP John Curtiss then threw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.
RHP Drew Smith threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.
RHP Jeff Brighham closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.
The Mets next game is at the Giants tomorrow night, Friday April 21 at 10:15 p.m.
