The New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 7-0 tonight at Oracle Park for their third consecutive win and improved their record to 14-7.

After a scoreless top of the first, Daniel Vogelbach led off the top of the second with a single and two batters later, 3B Brett Baty singled.

Later in the inning, 2B Luis Guillorme drove in the first run of the game with a RBI single.

The bats did not do much in the next two innings, but in the top of the fifth, Guillorme led off with a single and then CF Brandon Nimmo hit a ground-out back to RHP Anthony Descalafani.

SS Francisco Lindor struck out, but then RF Jeff McNeil reached on an infield single and Guillorme came around to score on a throwing error by catcher Joey Bart.

1B Pete Alonso came up next and continued his torrid start to the season with a two-run homer, his 10th homer of the season.

The offense was held scoreless for the next three innings, but in the top of the ninth Nimmo and Lindor singled with two outs and then McNeil was hit by a pitch which loaded the bases.

Alonso followed and broke the game open with a two-run single.

DH Daniel Vogelbach followed with a RBI single.

LHP Joey Lucchesi made his first start as a Met since June 18, 2021 after he missed almost two full seasons after Tommy John Surgery and had a stellar outimg.

Lucchesi threw seven scoreless innings allowing four hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.

He was able to keep hitters off balanced all night with his fastball, curveball and change-up and did a nice job of changing speeds.

Lucchesi is the first Met pitcher to work into the seventh inning this season.

LHP Brooks Raley followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

RHP Tommy Hunter closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Saturday, April 22 at the Giants at 4:05 p.m.
