The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins 6-2 this afternoon at Loan Depot Park and improved their record to 2-1.
After a scoreless top of the first, LF Mark Canha led off the top of the second with a double and then 2B Luis Guillorme followed with a walk.
3B Eduardo Escobar then grounded out and catcher Omar Narvaez drove in Canva with a sacrifice fly.
In the top of the fourth, Canha led off with a walk and three batters later, Narvarez drove in Canha with a RBI single for his second RBI of the game.
In the top of the fifth, RF Jeff McNeil led off with a double and then 1B Pete Alonso followed with a RBI double.
Two batters later, Canha delivered with a RBI single.
After a scoreless top of the sixth, Canha capped off his stellar day at the plate with a solo homer in the top of the seventh.
RHP Tylor Megill had a solid first outing of the season allowing two runs on six hits in five innings.
Megill gave up two walks and had seven strikeouts.
He worked out of some jams and showed composure with men on base.
He picked up his first win.
RHP Dennis Santana came in next and made his Met debut in the bottom of the sixth and threw a scoreless inning.
LHP Drew Smith and LHP Brooks Raley combined to throw a scoreless bottom of the seventh.
RHP Adam Ottavino threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth.
RHP David Robertson closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Sunday April 2 at the Marlins at 1:40 p.m.
