The New York Mets lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 tonight at Dodger Stadium to snap their five-game winning streak and dropped their record to 11-7.
RHP Tylor Megill got off to a rocky start in the bottom of the first after he gave up a single to 1B Freddie Freeman and then a two-run homer to the following hitter DH J.D. Martinez.
Megill had a scoreless bottom of the second, but then gave up a solo homer to Martinez in the bottom of the third.
Megill settled down after that with scoreless innings in the bottom of the fourth and fifth and was then taken out.
His final line was five innings, seven hits, three runs, four walks and four strikeouts.
RHP Denyl Reyes followed with 1.1 scoreless innings.
RHP John Curtiss gave up two runs in the bottom of the eighth.
The offense did was completely dominated by LHP Clayton Kershaw. In the top of the first, CF Brandon Nimmo led off by reaching on a three base error, but then Kershaw came back to strike out next three hitters he faced.
Kershaw was locked in for the rest of the game throwing seven scoreless innings with no walks and nine strikeouts.
The offense did not do much the last two innings and managed only four hits.
The Mets next game is tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, April 19th at the Dodgers at 3:10 p.m.
