Mets Sweep Doubleheader 10-0 Against Pirates

The New York Mets beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-0 tonight at PNC Park to sweep the doubleheader  and improved their record to 87-51.

After a scoreless top of the first, LF Mark Canha walked with one out and then two batters later, 3B Eduardo Escobar singled.

Catcher James McCann followed with a walk to load the bases and then CF Brandon Nimmo walked to bring in a run.

Escobar then scored on a wild pitch by RHP Johan Oviedo and then 1B Pete Alonso walked.

SS Francisco Lindor came up next and delivered a two-run double.

In the top of the fourth, McCann led off with a walk and then two batters later, Alonso singled.

Lindor followed with a RBI double, his third RBI of the game and then 2B Jeff McNeil came up next and broke the game open with a two-run single.

After scoreless innings in the top of the fifth and sixth, Canha led off the top of the seventh with a double and then RF Tyler Naquin followed with a RBI double.

Naquin advanced to third on a wild pitch and then Escobar came through with a RBI single.

In the top of the eighth, McNeil led off with a double and then DH Daniel Vogelbach followed with a RBI single.

RHP Jacob deGrom had another dominating performance with seven scoreless innings allowing three hits and one walk. 

He picked up his fifth win and lowered his ERA to 1.66.

RHP Adam Ottavino followed with a scoreless bottom of the eighth.

LHP Alex Claudio closed it out with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

The Mets are off tomorrow and return back to action on Friday, September 9th at the Miami Marlins at 6:40 p.m.
